In World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, this week’s reset yesterday brought in a massive injection of endgame content for players to dig their fingers into. With the release of the first raid and the first season of both rated PvP and Mythic+ dungeons, there’s significantly more to do now.
With the opening of the Castle Nathria, there’s more than just some loot on grab. Players are able to take down some of the bosses to earn legendary memories to give to the Runecarver, primarily ones that can only be obtained within Nathria.

For a while now, players have been dreading the inevitable farming that this could take. With dungeon-based legendary memories, one can run the dungeon over and over, unless it only drops on Mythic difficulty which has a weekly lockout.
With a raid-based drop, however, players are only given one chance a week per difficulty. Once a boss has been downed/looted on a difficulty, it cannot be looted on that difficulty again until the next Tuesday brings a weekly reset.

Because of this, players were dreading that having a bit of bad luck could keep them having to down Nathria bosses for weeks on end. This was especially daunting to players with legendary memories that dropped off of later bosses.

Thankfully, Blizzard seems to have come up with a solution to that – eliminating RNG altogether when it comes to raid-based legendary memory drops!
It’s important to note though, this is not confirmed. The claim is being made by Wowhead, which has observed a number of boss kills and seen the legendary memories dropping with 100% chance. It is possible that the teams they’ve observed simply have unbelievably good luck, though highly unlikely.
If you’re unfamiliar with the new legendary crafting system, players are tasked with retrieving a legendary memory and returning to Torghast to the Runecarver within. There, you can teach him the legendary memory to craft for you.
Afterwards, you return to him with two missives of your chosen secondary stat and an item to craft the legendary onto. From there, you simply select the chosen memory that you’ve unlocked to have it created anew, also unlocking the ability to upgrade it from there.

Given that many classes have their best-in-slot locked behind the walls of Nathria, it’s great to see the drop chances are guaranteed – or at least very, very high. This should make the grind just a bit more bearable for most players.
