Koei Tecmo Announces Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires For Early 2021

Publisher Koei Tecmo has announced Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires, the latest in the long line of Empires titles. The game will launch for PC and consoles in early 2021. The official game website is now available with additional information about the title, along with a one-minute announcement trailer.

Unlike the main Dynasty Warriors series, Empires relies on strategy. Players take control of a commander to give out orders and strategize to lead their kingdom to victory. Along the way, players will recruit commanders from other kingdoms and build their stories.

Not much is known about Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires yet. The teaser trailer shows a commander, who may be Wei’s Cao Cao, standing on a cliff as soldiers run towards him. The commander watches as a kingdom is built from the ground up.

Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires will contain Siege Battles, where commanders can deploy specialized units to capture strategic points on the map. This includes important locations, such as castles, that will help commanders on their quest to conquer ancient China.

During the battle, players can take control of these locations and use various methods, such as fire attacks, siege weapons, or attack other commanders head-on. Working with other commanders on the team is also important to ensure everyone is working for the same goal and can accomplish their goal without failing.

Characters from the previously released game Dynasty Warriors 9 will appear, which is the tradition for all Empires games. It’s unknown if Koei Tecmo expects to add any new Empires-only characters, such as how Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires added Xun Yu. It’s still too early to know for sure.

The official website showcases Shu’s strategist Zhuge Liang together with Wei’s Sima Yi. Both stand in front of a castle that has already been engulfed in battle. Players will likely get to recruit these characters, and more, to help strategize in battle.

Players who want to know more about the upcoming game can follow Koei Tecmo on social media, join its official Discord server, or check-in to the official Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires website.

Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires is expected to launch in early 2021 for PC via Steam, PlayStation 4 and 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
