The Tactical RPG Digimon Survive Has Been Delayed Until 2021, According To Producer

Digimon Survive is a survival RPG with tactical elements that is being developed by Witchcraft. It features the Digimon franchise in grand fashion, which has a loyal following even still to this day. Back when the series was really popular, you had your Pokemon fans and your Digimon fans. It’s nice to see this franchise still getting some love in 2020.

The game was originally expected to release this year, but now 2021 is the target time period. That isn’t shocking considering everything going on in the world right now. The announcement comes from the producer Habu Kazumasa, who took to Twitter to explain the developer’s decision in greater detail.

Current world events have shifted the developmental timeframe a bit and in order to adjust, this second delay was inevitable. The developer is keen on making a fun and unique tactical RPG featuring Digimon like never before. It might not be what fans want to hear, but it could mean a more polished and bug-free experience at the end of the day.

While we wait for a release date confirmation, there are a lot of things we already know about this upcoming RPG. The game will have a story that shapes out depending on what players do. That means there are multiple endings that give added weight to the story.

Also adding to the tension is the fact that if players make the wrong choice, characters can be killed off. Players will thus have to tread lightly and do things carefully if they want to have positive outcomes.

In terms of how Digimon Survive plays, there are a couple of different mechanics. You have a text adventure part that tells the story. Then there is the Search Actions segment where players have to figure out how to survive.

Free action involves players deciding where they go and who they talk to in a certain time period. Lastly, Free Battle is where players can train their Digimon and collect all kinds of items.

The different aspects of gameplay make Digimon Survive a pretty dynamic RPG that you don’t often see today. Players have a lot to look forward to out of the gate and plenty of interesting Digimon to play with. They can also be evolved in unique ways, which makes what you do with them all the more interesting. You’ll be invested in how they develop after every battle. If you’re a Digimon fan, the additional wait should be worth it.
