The Sims 4 CAS December Update Details And Release Date Revealed

The Sims team has followed up on its September news updates about the upcoming November and December base game updates. This update for The Sims 4 base game contains changes to existing and new Create a Sim (CAS) content, such as hairstyles, skin tones, and makeup options.

The updates come after years of fan requests to make the game more inclusive for its diverse player base. In a statement weeks ago, the developers stated they would continue updating the game with improvements. Most of all, they would work with their players to gain valuable feedback moving forward.

The first round of updates came for PC players on October 6. Now players on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will receive that content update. The specific changes were for darker skin tones, such as color banding that appeared on cheeks and foreheads. This helped create a consistent tone across the entire body.

Updates to hairstyles were also made to male Afro and braids with more detail, texture, and style to make it more realistic. These improvements are part of the journey for The Sims team and won’t be covered by a single update.

Microsoft Flight Simulator Just Received Its First Major Update

The next major update for all platforms will come in December. The Sims will update with over 100 new skin tones. Each tone will have a value slider to unlock thousands of customizable options. Existing skin tones will ensure existing skin tones display even better, including how they look with suntans and sunburns. The news post has some sample images of what to expect.

December’s update also includes four makeup sliders for hue, value, opacity, and saturation. This was added so players can adjust how much makeup they want to add on a specific Sim.

Three additional base game hairstyles will receive an improvement. This includes two children’s hairstyles for the braided ponytail with and with baby hairs, plus the flat-top hairstyle texture.

The Sims team stated they were working with consultants plus Game Changers like Mia Zaff, EbonixSims, Rao, Xmiramira, and CatherineGames to advise them on what changes are recommended. There’s no news on what’s to come in future updates, but players should know The Sims team is not working alone.

The news post doesn’t state if the update will occur for PC and console players simultaneously. PC players should prepare to remove their mods before updating the game.
