Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened, Remade By Frogwares As A Sherlock Holmes And Cthulhu Hybrid

The famous Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened adventure, which Cthulhu inspired, will be completely remade and remastered for use on contemporary platforms, according to Frogwares.

Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened is a retelling of the renowned detective’s debut adventure as he sets off on his first significant case with recently hired helper John Watson after settling in London, a Lovecraftian-themed global tour.

We had always intended to remake this game at a later time, but the war compelled us to do so right away. By working on a game where the majority of the data, scope, and storytelling have already been set in a matter of weeks, we’re giving ourselves access to a much more foreseeable and organized production cycle.

With a complete revamp made with Unreal Engine 4, this new edition of The Awakened will have a new third-person viewpoint, investigative mechanisms, side missions, new graphic assets, animations, voice work, cinematic updates, and more.

The team at Frogwares believes The Awakened’s cosmic tragedy setup offers just the type of life-altering experience that could have contributed to Sherlock’s deep relationship with Watson and his development into a “cracked and tormented genius.”

The idea of using The Awakened to continue its young Sherlock arc has been circulating in the studio for some time, according to Frogwares.

The Ukrainian studio will have “stability and predictability.” At the same time, it continues to adapt to life during Russia’s continuous invasion of the country if it remakes a prior game whose “quality, scale, and storyline are all set in place,” according to the statement.

Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened will be released on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One (as well as PC, PS5, PS4, and Switch), though no release date has been specified yet.

“Stability and predictability are exactly what we need right now,” it reads. “While the remainder of our days remains so unpredictable.”
