Solo developer and industry veteran Tony Barnes as RetroNinja has announced Run Die Run Again, a fast-paced first-person parkour action game.
Run Die Run Again takes place in the year 2127. The device between the “haves” and “have-nots” has only gotten worse throughout the decades. Governments across the world decided to host a new event called “The Run.” The contest aims to entertain everyone and give the “have-nots” a chance to change their circumstances.

The event chooses various athletes to complete a virtual obstacle course. The government did not make the courses easy, which is how the course, and the game, got its title Run Die Run Again. Each course was hand-crafted with alternative routes with almost one hundred different courses to complete.
The game is a speed-running game where everything is trying to destroy the player. The environments act as an obstacle course filled with hazards. The Players have to quickly avoid getting killed by performing precise leaps and avoid traps. If players aren’t quick enough, then the bomb strapped to their back will explode.

As players run through the course, the host of the game will comment, depending on the context of the situation. The commentary is there to make players feel like they are part of the world.
The challenge is worth it to those struggling. If they can survive the course, the winners will become one of “The Selected.” The winner will receive food, shelter, and never have to worry about working again.
Outside of the game are local and global leaderboards. The competition encourages competition between players and speed-runners.
Players can also unlock items, such as additional courses, songs, character holograms, skins, and celebrations. “Runner Logs” are additional notes that provide world-building lore.
Developer Tony Barnes commented about the game, stating:
When I thought about RetroNinja’s first game, I wanted to make something I could do largely on my own. While trying to figure out what that was, I was playing a lot of Destiny, Celeste, Super Meat Boy and Titanfall 2. I thought; first-person Super Meat Boy, now there’s a game I think would be fun, a game I could make by myself.
Those who want to follow the development of the game can follow RetroNinja on social media or wishlist the game on Steam now.
