My Time at Sandrock Sequel To Portia Now Live On Kickstarter

Pathea Games has announced My Time at Sandrock, the sequel to the 2018 game My Time at Portia. The game is currently seeking additional funding through Kickstarter and quickly surpassed its goal shortly after launch. Players can expect the title to first launch through Steam Early Access next year. After it leaves Early Access, the game will launch on multiple PC digital game storefronts and consoles in 2022.

My Time at Sandrock was initially developed as a downloadable addition to My Time at Portia. As the developers continued work on the game, My Time at Sandrock became bigger than anticipated. Players can expect improved graphics, optimization, story content, and satisfying gameplay. The developer also wanted to incorporate multiplayer, but My Time at Portia did not support it.

Puzzle-Solving Fantasy Adventure Game Lonesome Village Kickstarter Ends Tomorrow

My Time at Sandrock takes place in the rugged mining town of Sandrock. Players will build a new workshop and help out the struggling town in various ways. The developer wants to keep the same “Miyazaki-inspired” world but with more surprised.

The player is recruited to Sandrock as a builder but discovers the city is run down and crumbling. Shops have not been maintained, buildings sit empty, and the current residents are looking for a new place to call home. It’s up to players to rebuild the place that attracts both old and new residents to make it thrive once again.

The open-world setting will allow players to gather materials, explore, and maintain their homestead. The desert and mountain region will have new activities and locations such as mesas, canyons, salt plains, ruins, and more.

The game will specifically focus on having a more satisfying story art for players to enjoy. More focus will be given to each individual NPC. While the game will be a dedicated single-player RPG, there will be an additional special mode where strangers or friends can jump in.

Players can also expect that the game will be better optimized. The developer stated they learned a lot from Portia and hopes to remove bugs and other issues before it launches. This may also be why the game will first enter Early Access for a few months before releases.

My Time at Sandrock will also have improved sound and voice acting. After that, the developer has announced they plan on self-porting to consoles to make sure the content is consistent among all releases.

My Time at Sandrock will first launch on PC via Steam Early Access in March 2021. The developer plans to release the full game in Spring 2022 for GOG, Epic Games Store, WeGame, and additional PC digital storefronts. The console release is scheduled for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and other next-gen consoles in Summer 2022.
