Earlier this year, CD Projekt Red promised to reveal Cyberpunk 2077‘s season pass and post-launch DLC before the game gets released, but during a recent quarterly earnings call, the Poland-based developers said that plans have changed.
While speaking with investors earlier this week, CD Projekt Red CEO Adam Kiciński talked about why they’re going to wait until after Cyberpunk 2077 launches on December 10 to reveal the game’s DLC expansions.
“The initial plan was to do it before release, but after the recent delay, we decided to wait for the release to provide gamers with the game and then start talking about future projects. So, after release.”
While speaking about Cyberpunk 2077’s post-launch DLC back in April, CD Projekt Red’s CEO said that their upcoming first-person, open-world RPG will have no less post-launch content than The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt did. So, that means that Cyberpunk will get at least two story-related expansions, and a ton of additional DLC packs containing cosmetic items, new quests, and a new game plus mode.

During a recent interview with GameSpot, CD Projekt Red’s John Mamais talked about Cyberpunk 2077’s post-launch DLC, saying that they’ll likely try to follow The Witcher 3’s post-launch content model. He also said that their upcoming game won’t have any microtransactions.
“The Witcher 3’s free DLC with big paid expansions was a good model for us; it worked pretty well for The Witcher 3. I don’t see why we wouldn’t try to replicate that model with Cyberpunk 2077. We’re not talking about that yet, but it seems like that would be the smart way to go.
“It’s probably a hard decision for the guy that runs the business to decide if we should [have microtransactions] or not. But if everyone hates it, why would we do something like that and lose the goodwill of our customers?”
For now, it does, in fact, look like Cyberpunk 2077 will be ready to be released on December 10, which is, as of this writing, the game’s scheduled release date. It’s also worth noting that some people do already have physical copies of the game, so spoilers could get leaked out before the game gets released next month.

When Cyberpunk 2077 does get released, it’ll be released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, as a more robust version of the game will be released for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X sometime next year. When it launches, it’ll do so with only a single-player campaign, as the game’s multiplayer won’t be added until 2022.
