Man Who Allegedly Tried To Murder Eminem Will Face Trial

It appears as though the man who tried to break into Eminem’s home will see his day in court. Earlier in the year, Hot New Hip Hop reported that a 27-year-old man by the name of Matthew Hughes had barged his way onto the legendary rapper’s property. He said he was there to murder him, the outlet claimed.

Thankfully, Marshall Mathers – who goes by the stage name, Eminem – wasn’t injured in the attack but his legal team has stated that Hughes broke into the house through a window and Marshall reportedly thought it was someone in his family because the house was dark.

As the story goes, Marshall managed to get the man out of his home, and security apprehended him. Police soon show up after to detain him, and Hughes has since been charged with first-degree home invasion as well as malicious destruction of property.

The Detroit Free Press was the first to report that the trial will take place on the 19th of April, 2021, in Macomb County Circuit Court. Judge Edward Seritto said in court that he doesn’t believe they’ll have jurors until a vaccine has been produced. He said it was “ways down the road.”

Reportedly, Hughes has been charged with assaulting a prison employee as well. Reports have claimed the man punched a corrections officer in the face while in confinement.

As it was previously reported, Hughes burst into the rapper’s home earlier in 2020 amid the coronavirus pandemic lockdown. It was reported by Hot New Hip Hop initially that Eminem’s guards were the ones to take the man down, but it was later claimed that Eminem had handled it on his own.

The incident was controversial not for the break-in, but over who was the one to take Hughes down. A few on social media mocked Eminem for reportedly not handling the situation himself, while others defended him.

Nevertheless, this wouldn’t be the first time a celebrity has been targeted by a malicious fan. Taylor Swift has had multiple run-ins with them, as has Miley Cyrus, among many others.
