Celebrity hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos styled Joey King’s hair for her winning look as she took home the award for best Comedy Movie Star at the 2020 People’s Choice Awards for her movie The Kissing Booth 2. Joey looked great and wore her hair in a chin-length bob complete with gorgeous “Sw” waves. Dimitris explained the process he used to create Joey’s award-winning look for the event and pointed out that he used Dove products on Joey.

For the People’s Choice Awards, Joey is wearing a gorgeous red outfit with lots of texture and an interesting silhouette. Using the hairstyles from the Bottega Veneta S/S ‘21 show as inspiration, I created a look for Joey that is simple and subtle but has a strong personality. Sometimes it can be more difficult to make a style look easy and effortless than it is to create a super polished look!

Starting on Joey’s damp hair, I sprayed my favorite Dove Smooth + Shine Heat Protectant Spray evenly throughout before I blow-dried the hair to protect it from heat damage. Once the hair was dry, I used the Dove Care Between Washes Brunette Dry Shampoo for added texture, plus the grit from the starch will help hold the shape of the style. The brunette tint in the dry shampoo lets me use as much as I need on Joey’s brown hair without leaving any white powdery residue. Next, I started at the nape of the hairline and using a flat iron, I gave a few bends to the hair in an ‘S’ shape to keep the style subtle. I kept working her hair in the same way until I reached the top of her head. At the top, I parted the hair down the middle and added some more ‘S’ waves to frame her face. I finished the look with a generous distribution of Dove Style + Care Micro Mist Extra Hold Hairspray, which helps with the humidity and keeps the static away, without feeling too crunchy or stiff.
