Jane Lynch Reveals She Lost This Role She Really Wanted To Rosie O’Donnell – Says It Was ‘Heartbreaking’

As it turns out, the actress really wanted a role that would go on to become iconic, but she lost it to none other than Rosie O’Donnell! Jane Lynch was a guest on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen yesterday and while chatting with the host, she revealed that she auditioned to appear in A League of Their Own in Chicago.

It all started with Lynch denying the rumors that she auditioned to portray Phoebe Buffay on Friends only for the iconic role to get away from her and be landed by Lisa Kudrow.

As for the particular role Lynch wanted in the ‘90s production, it ended up going to Rosie O’Donnell!

Rosie O’Donnell ended up getting that part, but I auditioned. I had to play baseball and the whole thing. I did not get it. It was heartbreaking,’ Lynch shared with Cohen.

Only a few years after, however, Lynch did manage to get a role that would go on to become pretty iconic, in the comedy Best in Show.

And since the movie just celebrated its 20th anniversary not too long ago, the cast reunited for a chat with ET, an experience Lynch really enjoyed, calling it a real ‘blast.’

‘Twenty years feels like a long time ago and in a way it was just like yesterday. It was great to see all those guys.’
