Blizzard has been hard at work keeping the player base hyped for the upcoming World of Warcraft: Shadowlands release. Coming November 23rd, Blizzard has been polishing as hard as they can in anticipation.
They also recently released their Scourge Invasion event as part of the World of Warcraft: Shadowlands prepatch. This event pays homage to the Wrath of the Lich King event, bringing new content and collectibles to the game.

But not everyone seems to be happy with the new content that Blizzard has released to bridge the gap between Battle for Azeroth and Shadowlands. The new content has been met with mixed reviews from the player base.
One of the main complaints is that there’s a lack of content for players to really sink their fangs into. The new content consists of an extremely short questline that takes less than half an hour that leads players up to Icecrown, where the bulk of the event takes place.

From there, there’s a bit more of the questline as well as a sparse amount of dailies. These quests and dailies help players drum up Argent Commendations, an event-specific currency used to purchase the 100-item-level catch up gear from the Quartmermaster.

That aside, the majority of the event is made up of killing the rares that spawn in Icecrown once every twenty minutes or so. These rares drop gear at 110, as well as a few more unique items, with twenty bosses all in all, each of which is a reference to Wrath of the Lich King.
These bosses are guaranteed to drop Pitch Black Scourgestones, which players can turn in in increments of 25 to the Quartermaster for Argent Commendations. Other mobs drop Darkened Scourgestones, which have the same use in the same increment.
That’s really all players have to do in this new event so far. There’s also a World Quest that leads players to Nathanos Blightcaller, gaining a weapon at 115 item level, but otherwise… that’s about all the event has to hold.
Players have responded to this with mixed reviews, with many happy to just have the catch up gear and others annoyed to have so little to do. Not counting the grind for Scourgestones, there’s less than an hour of content for players to enjoy.

It’s worth saying that this is the first week of the two-week event, which is tamer than the second. At the next week’s reset, more will be added in for players to enjoy, adding a bit more content to the currently-sparse event.
