Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Has Officially Gone Gold Ahead Of November Release Date

A little less than a month before its scheduled launch date, Ubisoft has announced that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has gone gold, meaning that the game’s principal development is complete, and it is now being sent off for disc manufacturing and distribution. Of course, like with most modern-day AAA games, a day-one patch is expected, so the devs’ work is far from complete.

We’re extremely proud to share that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has gone gold,” said Ubisoft on Twitter. “On behalf of everyone working on the game, we can’t wait to see how your own Viking saga unfolds. Your journey to glory starts on November 10.”

During a recent interview with YouTuber Julien Chièze, Ubisoft producer Julien Laferrière said that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will be a bit bigger than 2018’s Odyssey, which was the biggest game in the franchise, featuring roughly 90 square miles of playable terrain.

Given that the map will be bigger, naturally, the game’s file size will be larger, as it’ll require somewhere around 50GB of free space to install.

“I would actually say in terms of range Valhalla is probably a bit larger than Assassins Creed Odyssey,” said Laferrière. I do not have the exact figures at this stage, but we have not only created the whole country, which is in this case England, but also to a good part of Norway too.

“There are other secret worlds, which I can not speak about today, which contributed to the size of the game. It’s not a small game, it is a game which is clearly ambitious, which will offer many many hours of gameplay for the players.”

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will launch on both current and next-gen consoles, with the next-gen versions being capable of running at 60 FPS in 4K. Also, the next-gen versions will have improved loading times and tempest engine for 3D sound.

There are five different versions of Valhalla that are available for pre-order: Standard Edition, Gold Edition, Gold Steelbook Edition, Ultimate Edition, and Collector’s Edition. Of course, the more expensive editions of the game will include additional content such as the game’s season pass, cosmetic items, digital content, collector’s items, and a steel book.

If you purchase Valhalla on current-gen consoles (PlayStation 4, Xbox One) you’ll be able to upgrade to the next-gen version at no additional cost.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is currently scheduled to be released on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC on November 10.
