Taylor Swift kept her political opinions to herself for most of her career but lately, she’s started to be really vocal and use her platform for good. That being said, while some have really praised her for it, she’s also received a lot of criticism over it and now, Demi Lovato is defending her.
After all, Demi previously slammed the fellow singer back in 2016 for staying silent about the presidential election when Donald Trump became the POTUS.
With that being said, she must have been happy to see that Taylor Swift has changed and is now as vocal as she can be about politics.
Demi noticed the hate that came with that change as well so she could not help but come to the defense of her frenemy.
Demi Lovato just dropped a political anthem titled Commander in Chief and while discussing the song for CNN, she praised Taylor Swift’s contribution to the cause as well.
‘You’re damned if you do, you’re damned if you don’t. You can list Taylor Swift as a perfect example of that exact saying. For years she got trashed because she wasn’t taking a stance and wasn’t standing up for these rights. She kind of took a back seat and now she’s become very political and there are people that are unhappy with that too,’ Demi stated.
She went on to say that ‘It’s just, like, you have to live what feels authentic to you. To me, that’s using my platform to speak out about the things that I see that are wrong.’
Sure enough, as mentioned before, Demi Lovato was actually one of the people who trashed Taylor Swift back in 2016 for not using her influence amid the Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump political race.
It’s great to see that Demi has changed her opinion on Taylor now that she’s started to speak up and was so quick to defend her.
