The Division 2 has been a pretty great shooter RPG all things considered. Many regard it as a step up from the original, which was also heavily praised at the time of its release.
If you’ve held out on playing it despite the fact that it has gotten better with time and more content, that’s okay. This weekend is once again your chance to see what you’ve been missing.
Ubisoft announced that this free-play weekend is taking place between September 24 and September 28. That’s a couple of days to grind through different DC areas, experience the various modes, and upgrade your character as much as possible.
And if you already enjoyed the free-play weekend back in February, your data will transfer over. Thus, you don’t have to go back through and waste time on missions you’ve already had the pleasure of enjoying.
Ubisoft has knack for offering these free-play weekends. They did it for The Division 2 around this time last year too. It’s a great way for them to potentially gain new fans and continue to promote the positive shooter elements that have been present since launch.
There have been some grievances amongst fans about this shooter’s grindy nature and difficulty in terms of grabbing top-tier weapons, but the developer has done a lot to improve upon these aspects.
They’ve also pumped out a lot of content since this game first released back in 2019. One of the more notable DLCs was the Warlords of New York expansion. This was the developer’s way of taking community feedback and tweaking end-game content to be much more meaningful. It also introduced a new narrative-based experience and a thrilling New York Landscape.
Aside from the expansions, there are a lot of things to love about the base experience of The Division 2. The open-ended design of Washington DC is fun to explore and set up settlements around. The co-op nature also has gone over well. Players can team up and take out terrorists now teeming these historic grounds.
The loot can be a bit taxing, but if you keep with it and consistently advance your character’s level, the missions get much easier to complete. The Division 2 is everything you want a sequel to be.
It’s not perfect, but it does enough to keep this franchise going strong for the foreseeable future. Starting Thursday, a whole new crop of gamers get the chance to join in on the fun.
