Space Channel 5 VR: Kinda Funky News Flash! Heads To Oculus Quest This Week

Grounding has announced the release of Space Channel 5 VR: Kinda Funky News Flash! on the Oculus Quest this October. When the game was in development, Grounding mentioned that other platforms were in development. The game was first released on the PlayStation VR in February 2020, with no information on when the other VR platforms were scheduled to launch. Now more players will have the opportunity to play.

Space Channel 5 VR: Kinda Funky News Flash! brings back the pink-haired space reporter Ulala plus Lou and Kee, two new reporters working for Channel 5. The new reporters are helping Ulala to investigate the strange aliens known as the Morolians. The game takes place years in a VR space, but players control either Lou and Lee. Players assist Ulala in her battle by copying her poses.

Space Channel 5 first launched on the Sega Dreamcast around 20 years ago. The newest game contains new stories, characters, stages, and music. The fight against the Morolians is all done by dance. The aliens are forcing people to dance, which is exactly how Ulala battles against the strange creatures.

The game contains multiple modes, including the main story, an Arcade tutorial, trial dance, viewing previous story chapters in third-person, Friendopedia to learn more about the characters, Dressing Room to switch outfits, and Calories to track the calories burnt during gameplay.

The famous Vocaloid character Hatsune Miku was announced as DLC for the game. The player could dance beside both Miku and Ulala as part of the Space39 Miku Pack. The DLC was launched on July 27, worldwide. It’s unknown if the Miku-themed DLC will be included with the Oculus Quest port or as a separate purchase.

The official website no longer lists the game as a PlayStation VR exclusive. Additional VR platforms include the Viveport, SteamVR, and now the Oculus Quest coming in October.

It’s unknown if the Oculus Quest release will include any additional content that wasn’t included in the PSVR launch. The developer may announce additional information about the upcoming port on through social media ahead of its release.

Space Channel 5 VR: Kinda Funky News Flash! launches on the Oculus Quest and Oculus Quest 2 on October 13. The game is available now for PlayStation VR.
