World Of Warcraft: Shadowlands Scourge Invasion Event Brings Back Haunted Memento Item

Blizzard’s World of Warcraft: Shadowlands expansion is well on its way, releasing in less than two weeks on November 23rd. As such, Blizzard has had plenty on their plate in the last few months getting everything ready.

One of their latest updates has been the release of the Scourge Invasion event, the prepatch event meant to bridge the gap between the battle for Azeroth and Shadowlands expansions. Releasing last Tuesday, the event is meant to take place in two weeks.

The first week is already upon us, and players were a bit disappointed to find that the content thus far consists of an extremely short questline and a lengthy intermittent rare mob farming in Icecrown.

While the second week will be bringing more content, the rare mob farming for the first week has plenty of unique items to give. We’ve already discussed a few, such as the 34-slot bag players can acquire, but the list continues to grow.

One of the items players have been finding is the Accursed Keepsake, a callback to the Haunted Memento that players could get in the Wrath of the Lich King prepatch Scourge Invasion event, which the current event pays homage to.

The drop chance of this item is unknown, though it’s definitely rare. Despite this, the item has a “white” rarity quality for its item name, making it seem as if it would be common.

The Haunted Memento from Wrath of the Lich King had the same, despite its own rarity, and the two have identical effects. While the item has no stats and can’t even be equipped, keeping it in one’s inventory has a spooky ability.

Every now and then, the item will cause a spectral wraith to appear behind you. This causes a sound effect, as well as making your character cower in fear for a brief duration.

Obviously there’s no good effect with this item, but it’s a keepsake that can only be acquired through this event. It’s also sellable, so if you get it and have no interest, some player likely will want to have it as a keepsake for the prepatch event.

If you’re lucky enough to get it, you’re going to want to hold onto it one way or another. If you intend to sell it, waiting until the event is over will make it fetch a much higher price, as it will then be fully unobtainable.
