At one point in time in music history, 50 Cent and G-Unit were among the biggest entertainers in North America. People in their late twenties and early thirties will likely remember songs like “21 Questions,” “In Da Club,” and more.
Hot New Hip Hop picked up on comments from Tyler The Creator in which he praised 50 Cent and G-Unit’s body of work. The rapper made sure to share some of his fond memories listening to the aforementioned artists, and he also praised 50 Cent’s classic songs.
G-Unit – consisting ot Lloyd Banks, Young Buck, Tony Yayo, and 50 Cent – have since dissolved, but the hip-hop group’s legend has remained. On his account this week, Tyler wrote that the mixtapes were “so hard man” and claimed 50 Cent had a ton of charisma.
Tyler went on to comment on the new generation who aren’t familiar with the way in which artists such as Tyler, himself, have taken the works of others and rapped over their material. He says people often tell him that Gucci Mane rapped over one of his tracks, and Tyler said, “Nah man we took his s**t.”
As most know, Tyler The Creator has been spreading a lot of words of positivity over the last few weeks, including for his fellow artist, Trippie Redd, whom he described as wild and crazy in a recent social media post. Tyler praised him as “sick” and suggested his style was totally unique.
50 Cent, on the other hand, has been busy in his acting and producing career, including in series like Power. The rapper, however, recently produced the posthumous project from Pop Smoke, Shoot For The Stars, and Aim For The Moon which went to number one on the charts. Pop Smoke was shot and killed in a home invasion gone wrong at the start of the year.
While Tyler clearly has an appreciation for 50 Cent and his former bandmates, the relationship between G-Unit has since soured. In recent years, 50 put some of his former collaborators on blast, including Tony Yayo. Although, it seemed like it was a joke because Tony said he would shoot anybody on the spot as a way of paying him back.
