People Can Fly’s Outriders was originally slated for a holiday 2020 release, but unfortunately things change and we did have a massive global pandemic this year as well. With a new Outriders trailer comes a confirmed release date as well as a confirmation that spells out good news for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S hopefuls.
Outriders will be launching on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC on February 2, 2021. It will also be arriving on Google Stadia, though at a later date.
People Can Fly also confirmed that crossplay will be available for all and that Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of the game will be upgradable to next-gen fro free. For those that opt into a physical PS4 game purchase, the non-digital PS5 system is required. For Xbox fans, the upgrade will happen courtesy of its Smart Delivery.
Outriders is basically like if Mass Effect got sloppy drunk and had naughty-naughty time with Fallout in a seedy bathroom stall while Borderlands video recorded it in the background and then the result was something downright beautiful. I’ve had a chance to play the game a few times during press demos, and immediately fell in love with the combat and how it works solo and in co-op. The story setup is also an intriguing one, with RPG-like quests, Borderland’s loot system, and an giant world to explore.
For now, Outriders is coming to PlayStation and Xbox systems, alongside PC and Stadia, on February 2, 2021. Are you excited? What did you think about the latest trailer at the top of the article? Sound off with your thoughts in the comment section below!
