Sean Connery Died From ‘Old Age’ Including Pneumonia And Other Complications

The death certificate obtained by TMZ this weekend confirmed that Sean Connery, the legendary James Bond actor, had died from heart complications, pneumonia, as well as “old age.” Reportedly, the 90-year-old man died on the 31st of October at 1:30 am in his home in the Bahamas. Interestingly, his certificate listed him as a “retired actor.”

More specifically, the death certificate described the cause of his death as follows, “respiratory failure,” “pneumonia,” “atrial fibrillation,” and “old age.”

Reportedly, atrial fibrillation is an ailment characterized by an irregular heartbeat which can often lead to other more serious complications, for instance, heart failure, strokes, blood clots, and more. Micheline Roquebrune, his widow, says the actor fought for a long time against other illnesses as well.

She said Sean had been suffering from dementia, but he died in his sleep “peacefully.” As most know, Sean Connery is definitely the most famous for his roles in the original James Bond films, based on the writings and books of Ian Fleming.

Connery went on to star in approximately seven 007 films, including Dr. No, From Russia With Love, and more. Sean has gone down in history as one of the greatest actors of all time, but mostly for kicking off the James Bond series, although, he has certainly been venerated by prestigious institutions, including his knighting by Queen Elizabeth II in 2000.

Sean appeared in other films as well, including The Hunt For Red October, starring big-name actors like Sean, Alec Baldwin, Scott Glenn, Sam Neill, as well as James Earl Jones. Released in 1990, the film was a huge success, earning over $200 million at the box office while only taking approximately $30 million to produce.

Connery also appeared in movies like The Untouchables, for which he won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Sean later retired from acting when he was 76-years-old in 2006, however, he came back to the screen for voice-over roles in 2012.

One of the last movies that Connery starred in was 2003’s The League Of Extraordinary Gentleman, which was a box office and critical success.
