Easily one of the most enjoyable aspects of Red Dead Redemption 2‘s Story and Online modes is the mechanics behind capturing and cataloging the many different breeds and coats of horses available throughout the game.
At the start of the game, only a few breeds will be available to the player, each with a predetermined set of coats that can be found on them. At the beginning, common breeds such as Tennesee Walkers and Morgans make up the majority of horses you’ll see, with Belgian Drafts and Suffolk Punch also showing up commonly throughout the map.
As you progress through the game, more and more breeds will be available for capture/purchase, with the rarity and stats directly correlating to which chapter you’re currently on. Some horses, like the White Arabian, are available immediately after the Exit Pursued By A Bruised Ego mission that unlocks stables.
Other horse breeds, such as the Missouri Foxtrotter, are only available after you reach certain chapters in the game. Below is the full list of available breeds and coats available in the game.

The following breeds/coat combinations are exclusive to PC: White Brindle Arabian, Few Spot Appaloosa, Perlino Andalusian, Red Chestnut Arabian.
