Cleveland Browns won a spectacular match against the Dallas Cowboys on the road today. The final result of this highly entertaining contest was 49-38 for the guests from Ohio, who moved to 3-1 after this triumph.
The Browns scored 27 straight points throughout the second and third periods, reaching a 41-14 advantage. It was all about them in those two quarters, with the Cowboys having a nightmare sequence in the offense fumbling the football twice, once by Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliot. They would also fail to convert 4th-and-3 handing the football to the guests.
After all these three situations, the Browns scored, with the note that following the fumbles, they delivered touchdowns.
However, Dallas rallied with three consecutive touchdowns, each one followed by a two-point conversion. Tonny Pollard, Dalton Schultz, and the rookie CeeDee Lamb brought back the hope to the Cowboys, who were just three points away from reaching Cleveland, 41-38.
The one who saved the Browns was Odell Beckham Jr., with his 50-yard rush that ended with a score. It was his third TD of the game, with the first one being a 37-yard reception from none other than Jarvis Landry, the other Cleveland WR star. It was his first toss for a score in the NFL.
OBJ had 154 yards from the scrimmage for three scores, two through the air and one on the ground. Cleveland had 307 yards on the ground, and they annihilated Dallas’s defense in that part of the game. D’Ernest Johnson yielded 95 on 13 carries, Kareem Hunt 71 on 11.
Baker Mayfield had a solid game, 165 yards 19-for-30, with two TD passes and without a single turnover. Myles Garrett had a strip and sack, his third in a row.
Dak Prescott threw for 502 yards and was again setting the new standards when it comes to passing, but without a result in the end. He because the first player in the NFL history to throw 450+ yards in three straight games, yet that won’t be too big of consolation for him, as the Cowboys sit at 1-3. Prescott had four touchdowns, one interception, and a fumble, being sacked on three occasions.
Zeke Elliot rushed for miserable 54 yards on 12 carries, and the entire Cowboys’ team had 85 yards on the ground. Amari Cooper caught 12 passes for 134 yards and a TD, Lamb had two TDs and 79 yards; Schultz 72 for one score.
Dallas needs to win next week against the New York Giants to keep its playoff chances. The Browns have a tough opponent at home next Sunday – Indianapolis Colts.
