Michael C. Hall To Reprise Dexter Role In Showtime Limited Series

Michael C. Hall will reprise his role as Dexter for a 10-episode, limited series that is set to air in 2021. Fans were thrilled to hear the news and social media has been buzzing about the serial killer that everyone hates to love, making his grand return. Dexter premiered on October 1, 2006, and became a hit for the premium cable network. The show ran for eight seasons until its series finale aired on September 22, 2013. The finale went down in history as one of the most viewer-hated and is ranked with HBO’s Game of Thrones as one of the worst series finales of all time. At least Dexter will have a do-over.

Fans weren’t ready for Dexter to leave the airwaves and there is already a push from fans to try and get the series extended! Filming hasn’t even started, but many are hoping that the limited series will be another success and Dexter could go on. It seems unlikely though. Showtime also resurrected Twin Peaks and while many hoped that would extend beyond a limited series, there are no plans to bring Twin Peaks back again.

Showtime’s Co-Presidents of Entertainment Jana Winograde and Gary Levine released a statement announcing that Dexter should begin production in 2021 and hopefully, the show will be ready by autumn 2021.

The official Dexter on Showtime Twitter page released an announcement that the show would return. It immediately went viral.

What do you think about the announcement? Did you watch Dexter on Showtime? Are you a fan? Are you excited for Michael C. Hall to return and reprise his role for the 10-episode, limited series?
