Is the highly anticipated Spice Girls reunion coming any time soon or not? Fans have been waiting to see the girls together on stage or making music again for a long time and now, Mel C, also known as Sporty Spice shared her thoughts on this in a new interview.
As it turns out, Mel C is well aware of how much people would love to see the girl group reunited and she talked more about it while a guest on British TV show ‘Lorraine.’
The singer told the host, Lorraine Kelly, that ‘Well you know we had the most incredible year last year playing stadiums all across the UK and islands and we have got to do it again. We talk about it all the time. Of course, this year has thrown everything into chaos. I think a lot of the big artists that were planning to perform this year will move to next year, so sadly it probably will delay getting [the] Spice Girls back on stage, but I’m doing everything within my power to make that happen.’
Lorraine went on to ask the singer if it would be too early to do a biopic on their 25th anniversary as a group but as far as Mel C is concerned, it’s the ‘perfect time’ for one.
‘When you look back to last year, yeah? Because the nostalgia like 20, 25 years—so many people came to the shows and they were reliving their childhoods. I think the music and the story of the Spice Girls, or the kind of beginnings of it, everything that happened in between, I think it’s perfect subject matter for one of those movies,’ she shared.
Both of the ladies went on to agree that a Spice Girls reunion would bring a healthy dose of ‘girl power’ into the world and even for the star’s 11-year-old daughter.
Speaking of Scarlet Starr, the proud mother described her as ‘sassy,’ and said she already has ‘loads of girl power’ herself!
