Kalypso Media, Yippee! Entertainment, and Pyro Studios previously announced plans to port Commandos 2 HD Remaster onto the Nintendo Switch. The team has now formally announced the release date for early December.
Commandos 2 HD Remaster was previously released on PC and Steam, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One earlier this year. The official website for the game lists the Nintendo Switch eShop, but for months the release date stated “Coming Soon.”
Commandos 2 HD Remaster is a reimagined version of the original game, Commandos 2: Men of Courage, developed by Pyro Studios. The game has high-definition graphics, reworked controls, UI, and tutorials.
The game takes place during World War 2. Players follow an elite group of commanders who must journey into enemy territories to complete various missions. Players will use their skills to overcome overwhelming odds and turn the tides of war in missions based on authentic WW2 locations.

Commandos 2 HD Remaster will bring the game to the Nintendo Switch for the first time. This specific port will include optimized support for both the Switch’s Joy-Con and Pro Controller. The experience has been reworked to make it more modern and accessible to a wider audience.
Every tutorial and campaign mission was reworked. There are ten missions that take place in night and day with realistic weather effects that may have a positive or negative impact on the characters. The cast of experienced commandos includes the Green Beret, Sniper, plus Whiskey the dog.
Characters will also have access to authentic World War 2 vehicles like tanks. This also includes an assortment of weapons like bazookas. With so much variety, players can experiment with different strategies and skills to survive until the end of the war.
Commandos 2: Men of Courage was initially released in 2001 for PC, Mac, PlayStation 2, and Xbox. The title was published by Eidos Interactive.
While players can already play the remaster on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One and now the upcoming Nintendo Switch release, the team has also announced a mobile port is in progress. There will be multiple ways for players new and old to the series to play the game.
