The new update was scheduled to debut on September 1, but creator Daedalic Entertainment will wait a few more months to improve Gollum’s solitary trip.
Maybe some folks will find this information helpful. The first game’s pieces were presented last month after a protracted wait, but to put it gently, the reaction was not particularly enthusiastic.

Instead, the message was about the need for more time, planning the most refined game, and, in this case, the willingness to honor JRR Tolkien’s writings, so the translations are not surprising.
The game’s release date was initially scheduled for 2021 but was later moved to 2022. The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will focus on Gollum’s adventure and will be based on the original books rather than the movie trilogy. Sméagol, Gollum’s other half, will occasionally seize control of the decision-making process. Thus players will also have to contend with him.
Since a recent gameplay teaser showed how harsh the game appeared on the sides, fans have been vocal over Gollum’s perceived lack of quality. Finally, Daedalic seems to have given those concerns serious consideration. Unfortunately, the workshop only states that the game will be delayed “by a few months” without providing a new launch date.
As of this writing, no platform has a set release date for The Lord of the Rings: Gollum. However, it is evident that we shouldn’t anticipate the game to release in 2022 and that the postponement would most likely cause it to happen in the spring of 2023, if not later. Who knows as far as the Switch version particularly.
The publisher acknowledged that the product would require additional work regardless of the initial release date.
It’s unclear when the game will release on Switch now that it’s been delayed across all platforms. However, Daedalic Entertainment reiterates in its announcement that the game will still be released for Nintendo‘s system, easing concerns of a cancellation.
