Bella Robertson has been getting a lot of criticism over her decision to tie the knot at the age of only 18! That being said, the Duck Dynasty star defended her choice during a new interview for ET and also gushed over her fiance!
As fans know, the reality TV celeb was proposed to by Jacob Mayo just last month, after no more than six months of dating!

As you can imagine, a lot of social media users have been telling Bella that she is just way too young to already tie the knot.
In response, she said via the news outlet that ‘First off, we have been friends for a long time. I think that a lot of people want to say, ‘Oh my gosh, they have only been dating for 6 months.’ But we’ve known each other for such a long time. And since quarantine is also like dog years, we have been in quarantine the whole time we have been dating and we are together all the time.’

With that being said, the young woman also admitted that, under different circumstances, she probably wouldn’t have gotten engaged so quickly either!

However, she also noted that in the South, getting married as early as she is not that uncommon!
In fact, 18 is the magical marriage age in her family, as she went on to reveal!
‘We started dating since he came home from college for quarantine, and that has been a big factor. I don’t know if normally I would’ve gotten engaged to someone after 6 months. But on top of that, in the south, a lot of people get married so young. Like, my parents also got married at 18, my brother also got married at 18, my grandparents got married at 18. It is very common around here so it didn’t really shock me too much about my age.’
