The next installment in the storied Assassin’s Creed series is Valhalla. It looks like one of the more promising games in recent memory, which can be attributed to the focus on Vikings.
These ancient people are so interesting to be exposed to. They hearken back to the days of Norse mythology and times of Odin. The game’s developer Ubisoft Montreal has properly promoted this title thus far, showing some graphic scenes of gameplay and breakdowns of what the story will involve.
A new trailer was just put out that goes into even further detail about Valhalla’s story. We see the close relationship between the game’s main protagonist — Eivor — and his brother Sigurd. Just in the first couple of cinematic scenes, you can tell the strong bond they have.
That should make the story all the more compelling. It’s not out of the question that the brothers will be put up against some tough obstacles that force them into making hard decisions as they try to expand their empire into England.
The trailer then shows the viking people sailing across the seas, making their way to English lands. Before they arrive, though, they’re warned about many other leaders that have already made claim to these lands.
Thus, your arrival will not be met with open arms but hostility and fear. Eivor, Sigurd, and the rest of these Viking warriors seem up for a fight though. They’ll have to strategize and figure out which kingdoms to attack first if they wish to claim these lands as their own.
There have been a lot of interesting stories in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, but Valhalla’s plot seems like one of the more intriguing. It’s hard not to take a vested interest in the conflicts between the Vikings and the Anglo-Saxon people. You can bet there will be some captivating kingdoms and leaders you’ll have to take down.
Now that this latest trailer has come out, it just gets gamers buzzing about Valhalla even more. It’s currently scheduled to release in November alongside the release of next-gen consoles from Sony and Microsoft. There are a lot of great titles still coming out this year, but Valhalla is quickly moving up the list alongside titles like Cyberpunk 2077.
If you’ve been absent from this action-adventure series, making your way back seems like a great idea for this upcoming installment. It’s teeming in compelling plots, beautiful environments, and brutal combat.
