Alex Trebek’s Wife Opens Up About His Passing

Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek passed away this past weekend after his battle with cancer and fans all over the world have been mourning alongside his friends and family members. Speaking of, his wife, Jean Trebek took to social media to thank everyone for their outpouring support as well as their kind and loving words.

Alex Trebek was 80 years old.

Jean wrote on her Instagram account: ‘My family and I sincerely thank you all for your compassionate messages and generosity. Your expressions have truly touched our hearts. Thank you so very, very much.’

Alongside the heartfelt message, the mourning wife posted a throwback picture from their wedding that took place back in 1990.

The snap shows Alex putting the ring on Jean’s finger, the moment very sweet and memorable.

After tying the knot, the married couple went on to welcome two additions to their family – a daughter and a son named Emily and Matthew, respectively.

The beloved Jeopardy! host had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer about a year before he succumbed to the illness.

According to the show’s Twitter page, he passed ‘peacefully,’ his closest friends and family members around him.

The man also has an adoptive daughter with his first wife, Elaine, named Nicky Trebek and she acknowledged his death too by posting a photo of prayer candles on her platform of choice.

Furthermore, the Jeopardy! team honored the iconic host earlier this week.

Executive producer Mike Richards paid tribute to him on Monday’s episode, saying that ‘This is an enormous loss for our staff, our crew, for his family, his millions of fans. He loved this show and everything that it stood for… He’ll forever be an inspiration for his constant desire to learn, kindness and his love of his family.’

Fans of Jeopardy! will still get to see the host until Christmas since he pre-taped 35 episodes.
